Dream Bass

The Hot Wire Dream Bass is an instrument for the player who wants something special! Any Hot Wire model can be built like a Dream Bass! Here is how it´s done:

Depending on the customer´s sonical needs, the body is either made from swamp ash or alder - or mahogany if you like. The exotic wood facing is about 10 millimeters strong and can be selected by the customer, not only adding to the special dreamy look, but also working for the tonal response, especially in the upper frequency range. Pictured here is a Spalted Maple top! It adds clear highs, similar to Birdseye Maple. Flamed Maple sounds more mellow. A Walnut top is first choice for a Fretless to bring out the singing qualities of the bass. The best tonal qualities can be mixed to achieve maximum results - and it looks great, too!

Look at a few selected dream basses, each one having its own sound!

A dream 4 with quilted maple top, very beautiful... also note highly figured birdseye maple neck!
A carefully selected piece of hardwood like this turns the bass into a work of art and an investment of raising value, and you can play music on it!

Finishes: Matte finish is fine on most hardwood tops. But higloss finish brings out the grain structure much more!

first dream

The first Dream 5 bass we built in 2000 featured a bookmatched "Measled Maple" top! Measled maple on swamp ash with birdseye maple neck: the stuff dreams are made of!

The first 4 string Dream, also built in 2000, had a nice figured birdseye maple top on an alder body and is known to be nightclubbing in Hamburg on a regular basis. Birdseye maple top on alder body with rosewood neck plus active parametrics gives you that classic feel and a flexible sound!
