Sixstring Bass

There is some demand for sixstring basses, so we are glad to help out and also respond to the players needs! Let´s start here right away with a very special project!

HWDG FRETLESS SIX

Dann Glenn was one of the very first in the vanguard of bass players to embrace the contra bass guitar when Anthony Jackson turned heads in the early 80's with his new concept in bass guitar.
Longing for the subsonic rush of a low B string, and the guitar-like range of a high C string, DG requested the HotWire Team allow him to design a dream bass never before seen or heard.
We told him, "Whatever Danny boy wants, Danny boy gets!" Not long after this DG presented Bert Gerecht with a design for Master luthier Magnus Krempel no one was expecting...

Instead of bells and whistles, incredibly hot preamps, hidden piezo pickups, and any number of possibilities available to the virtuoso's whims; he went the opposite direction. DG handed us a design for an incredibly simple, yet beautiful fretless contra bass guitar. He asked for a swamp ash amber burst body, German flamed maple neck, ebony fingerboard, all black hardware, only a single wooden-covered Jazz bridge pickup with the silence of a humbucker, and no knobs! No knobs? That's right...no knobs. It's DG's contention that the tone and volume knobs are nothing more than a redundant set of controls already on the front of the preamp. By taking pots, resistors, wires, and all the rest of the electrical components stuffed into even a passive bass` cavity...a hotter, more pure, and ultimately quieter signal could be realized. The HotWire Team took great pride in casting preconceived notions to the wind, and giving DG one of our most beautiful basses ever, which Dann has proudly named "Mars."

FLASH VI

The Hot Wire Flash VI Bass is the latest addition to the Flash range answering the demand for a six string bass, Jazz-style. The low B supplies a heavy yet defined rumble, and the high C gives this bass a throaty solo sound. The handling is superb, as this model is extremely light-weight for a six, with a German flamed maple neck that ’s very playable despite the width of 53 mm at the nut and 76 mm at the 12th fret. The Flash VI features coil-tapped Bartolini humbuckers along with the TC2 active electronics with a mini switch for "hi boost" and "hi&bass boost" . The Hipshot bridge gives you the option of stringing thru the body.
